With Memorial Day weekend and the excitement of summer travel upon us, I have been hearing the question, "do you have any tips for keeping up my healthy habits while on vacation?"
So, here they are!
  1. Plan to sneak in 20-30 minutes of exercise at least half the days of your travel -- think: resistance band exercises in your room, circuit training on the beach, or strength training at a local gym.  Not sure where to start?  Check out Beachbody on Demand with tons of full workouts to choose from!!  Another option - set a step goal above and beyond your daily average and work for it!  Some of my favorite vacation memories come from walks I've taken!
  2. When eating at a restaurants, look for grilled or baked options, instead of fried.  Also, ask for sauces and dressings on the side and keep in mind proper portion sizes!
  3. Drink lots of water!!!  Try to stick with water only!  I know those frozen, fruity cocktails look refreshing, but they will only add unnecessary calories and dehydrate you.
  4. Don't let yourself get too hungry!  Some great on the go options:
    *Shakeology
    *100-calorie raw almond packets
    *Sliced apples with peanut butter
    *Raw veggies with hummus
    *Grilled chicken strips
  5. Remember that you're on vacation and it is okay to treat yourself, in moderation!  Follow the 80/20 rule and know that you'll be ready to get back on track as soon as you return home.

Looking for additional support and accountability before, during and/or after vacation?  We have several groups forming over the next few weeks to meet your needs, just head on over here or email me at [email protected] for more information!

Do you have any healthy vacation tips to add to this list??
