Hey Friend! Welcome to my website! I am honored that you are here taking a look around to learn more about who I am and what I do. I am first a wife to my handsome husband, Frank, and a mom to my 3 kids - Brock, Addison (Addy) and Evelyn (Evie). My family is my WORLD.
I have an undergraduate degree in Music Therapy and a Masters Degree in Elementary and Special Education. Before Frank and I started our family I worked as an autistic support teacher for our local Intermediate Unit. I left my full time job after Brock was born to be a stay at home mom.
At 4 months postpartum, I found myself feeling discouraged about all the extra baby weight I was holding onto. I couldn’t fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes and, while staying at home with my babies was a lifelong dream of mine, I didn’t feel fulfilled in the way I had hoped I would. I knew I needed to do something for me, but had no idea where to begin.
Let's back it up a bit though...
Growing up, I was teased and abused due to being overweight; hearing comments such as, "she'll only run to catch the ice cream truck" and "that's not cute baby fat anymore, she needs to do something if she wants to change." These comments hurt, but I continued to eat, UNTIL a friend in high school told me that her sister was on this diet where she could only eat 1200 calories per day and she was losing a ton of weight.
Obviously, I wanted to lose weight, too, so I started to 'count calories.' Having a competitive personality, I thought that if 1200 calories was good, then LESS than 1200 calories was better. This cycle of intense calorie restriction, coupled with excessive exercise led to weight loss and lots of it, but also crushed my metabolism, led to amenorrhea, and made me less than friendly to be around. Thanks to the support of MY wonderful mother, I learned what I was doing to myself before I spiraled completely out of control.
For the next 15 years, although I remained extremely active, I fell into the starve/binge/exercise cycle more than I would like to admit, maintaining a decent weight, but never where I felt comfortable. Little did I know, my problem was not focus or needing a more “strict” plan, my problem was years and years of disordered eating.
Weight maintenance became even more difficult when I got pregnant. Despite going to Crossfit regularly and eating 'clean,' I gained over 50 pounds. I felt blessed to be carrying a healthy baby, but hated the changes my body experienced.
In November 2014, I came across an opportunity that changed my life. The opportunity to not only become a coach with BODi (formerly, Team Beachbody) and to help others, but also to begin on a journey myself. A journey to re-invest in my health and my education in the areas of emotional eating, nutrition and gut and hormonal health.
Now, as an Integrative Nutrition Certified Health Coach, with several additional advanced certifications, I empower women to live a healthy, joy-filled life without using food to fill the voids!
