SPRING CLEAN YOUR PANTRY

I don't know about you, but for me spring cleaning is both welcomed and dreaded (I mean, have you ever tried cleaning with a toddler around?!?!), so last weekend, I took advantage of having my husband home and got started in my pantry!

Yes, we have snack foods for Brock and I do keep chocolate in the house for the occasional craving, but it doesn't tempt me the way it used to...thankfully!!!
When cleaning, I took the time to toss anything past expiration or that had been open for more than 2-3 weeks.  Generally, we just plan ahead and buy for what we need, but when a sale comes up on non-perishables, I like to stack up!!!

So, if you're stocking up for the first time this spring, or doing an overhaul of your nutrition - what things should you include in your pantry:
  1. Glass Pyrex Containers with Matching Lids - these are a MUST for food prep and packing, even if you work from home!
  2. Brown Rice - time-saving tip: I buy instant OR the 90-second microwavable bags.  Sometimes you're in a hurry, why make it more complicated?!
  3. Plain and/or Steel Cut Oats - essential for my Fruity Oatmeal Bake!
  4. Quinoa
  5. Beans - we love chickpeas and black beans!
  6. Almond or Peanut Butter - make your own OR check the label to make sure it only contains 1 ingredient - the nuts!
  7. Shakeology Packets - the equivalent of 5 bowls of salad in one and super convenient?!  Yes, please!
  8. 100-calorie Almond Packs - choose raw versus roasted or salted

Fun Extras (for baking):
  • Almond/Coconut Flour
  • Dark Chocolate Chips
  • Unsweetened Apple Sauce
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
